Kat's Meows | The Studio

It's no surprise that I love parties. Going to them, planning them, whatever. I was really lucky in high school because I actually had a place to throw parties. What I call "The Studio," is actually just a room that sits above the garage, behind my grandmother's house. Back in its prime, my grandparents, then my father and his siblings, threw wonderful parties in it. However, by the time I got to an age where I could appreciate it, it had been filled with loads of junk. It had become the dumping place for my family and even random family friends.

As mentioned in a previous blog post, I was able to have a pretty great sweet sixteen in the studio. As my friends and classmates were looking for expensive venues to hold their 16th birthday parties, I knew exactly where I wanted mine to be. So, the spring break before I turned 16, I cleaned it out with the help of my father and friends (the first time).

Continuing through high school, I had parties in the studio and it was a great place, where my friends and I could make memories. Besides my parties, we could come up to the studio to hang out. To most of my family, the studio had become a creepy place...because it pretty much had. Filled with all sorts of creepy crawlies, spider webs everywhere, and even a bee hive, it had not previously been a place to have fun. The special thing about the Studio is that because of the wonderful friends and family that spent more and more time in it, the place became such a wonderful space.

 Christmas Party 2009

Upon entering The Studio, it's as if the walls are telling a story of the happy memories that have taken place; not only did my loved ones experience this, but all my father and grandparents' friends had great events in it, too.

Halloween Party 2010 (BLOG POST COMING SOON)

After three extremely successful parties throughout high school, I said my good-byes to my favorite hang out spot. When I returned, I was disappointed to see that the studio had filled up again. I continued to visit from time to time, hoping that magically the studio would return to its clean state. Several years later, I decided to do something about it (again). This past summer, with the help of my father, the studio is now back to the way it was meant to be, squeaky clean. The building is old, so of course there are parts that will never return to the way they were when it was first built, but I am absolutely okay with that. The character of The Studio will always remain, and I am grateful for that.

Clean-ish studio (current)

It may seem super silly to be so attached to a room, especially because it will most likely fill up with junk again. However, for some reason, I love the vibe that exists and all the happy times that seem to resonate in The Studio.
Peace out, I've got a party to throw!
